Rev. Dr. Roy W. Minnix III, Pastor
Pastor Roy Minnix was called to St. Luke Lutheran Church in
Dix Hills, NY in January of 2014. Prior
to receiving the call to St. Luke, Pastor Minnix served a parish in Hudson, NY,
and then as campus pastor at his alma mater, Concordia College New York, located
in Bronxville, NY. After graduating from
Concordia College in 2001, Pastor Minnix completed his Master’s degree in Divinity
at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO.
His graduate studies at the Seminary also included an internship at
Peace with Christ Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, CO, where Pastor Minnix was
able to create a new college outreach ministry.
In 2013, Pastor Minnix was awarded a Doctorate in Executive Leadership
from St. John Fisher College in Rochester NY.
His research investigated the role of the mentor in the spiritual and
faith development of the young adult. In
addition to serving in the congregation, Pastor Minnix has served on the
Columbia County Habitat for Humanity, as a Rape Crisis Counselor, as head of
the annual holocaust commemoration for the Interfaith Council of Westchester,
and continues to sit on dissertation committees through St. John Fisher
College. Having gone to High School on
the Jersey Shore, both Pastor and his wife Jennifer are happy to be back near
the water and feel very much at home in their new surroundings.
Minnix is married to his wife Jennifer and they have three children attending
schools in the Half Hollows School District.
Natives of the Jersey Shore, the Minnix family very much likes being
near the ocean and enjoy the summer months.
Pastor attempts to play golf and other such opportunities to embarrass him.
Jackie Kildale - Youth Coordinator
Jackie is a commissioned Lutheran School Teacher, working at our ministry partner, LuDay in East Northport. In addition, Jackie brings years of experience serving in youth ministry - both at St. James Lutheran Church in St. James, as well as Resurrection Lutheran, in Garden City. Jackie is very excited to be joining the family and ministry team of St. Luke. She will begin her time with us at the end of the summer as we kick off another school year (additional information will follow on how we might best receive her in the coming weeks).
In addition to starting her new ministry at St. Luke, Jackie also looks towards another monumental moment in her life. In November of 2016, Jackie will be married to her fiancé, Matthew Van Nostrand. At that time, Matthew of course will also reside at 16 Candlewood Path. We celebrate with them for all that God is doing in their life - and rejoice that God has brought them to us
